One of the most complete fossils of the dinosaur that has captured humanity's imagination sold for millions during Sotheby's Natural History auction.

A Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton nicknamed Gus has made history after selling for $50.1 million at Sotheby's in New York, becoming the most expensive dinosaur fossil ever sold at auction.

It’s an auction record for a fossilized dinosaur skeleton, beating the $44.6 million that Citadel founder Kenneth Griffin paid two years ago for Apex, a 150-million-year old Stegosaurus.
